"For me as a photographer, it is important to get as close as possible to people’s lives, and to tell their story to as many as possible."

An internationally famous Norwegian photographer and photo editor, Espen Rasmussen melds the eye of a fine artist with the sensibilities of a journalist. His work often focuses on places and moments of intense passion and friction, but he’s just as capable of capturing a moment of profound stillness or introspection in the middle of an emotional maelstrom. Rasmussen has focused his lens on stories about refugees, white nationalism, economic devastation, and physical feats of self-inf licted anguish, but he has a special interest in documenting the effects and threat of climate change.
